Pure Blue Gemstone

Aquamarine is one of the be st-loved of all gemstones. It is a dmired for its qualities of purity (la ck of inclusions) and fine blue sha des, which create a feeling of a ffinity with nature, evoking the eternal co lours of sky and sea.
Aqu amarine belongs to the same gemstone fa mily, beryl, as emerald, with a ha rdness of 8 on the Mohs sca le. Unlike emerald however, which is ra rely found to be free of i nclusions, aquamarine is usually clear and fre e of inclusions. The element which gi ves aquamarine its colour is iron, and de pending on the amount of iron pre sent in the crystal, the colour can va ry from the palest blue to a de ep sea blue. The more intense the co lour of an aquamarine, the more it is a dmired and the greater is its va lue. Furthermore, an intense sea-blue colour se ems to emphasise the immaculate transparency and wo nderful shine of this gemstone.
The fine aquamarine and diamond ri ng shown on the "Aquamarine" page of my we bsite is part of the PeerlessGems co llection. The central gemstone is a pa rticularly fine example of a clear, i ntense blue aquamarine, and the surrounding ba guette and brilliant cut diamonds perfectly co mplement the central aquamarine, bringing out its be auty of colour and supreme transparency.
